first two days of law school
stumbling out of my apartment building, walking down the 5 flights of stairs, and attempting to fight off a bad case of grogginess this morning, i walked no more than a 1/2 block and ..lo and behold..saw lucy liu saunter right past me in a short jean mini skirt and black t shirt. someone was gonna ask me what she was wearing. so yeah, i saw lucy liu on my way to class this morning. i suppose celebrity sightings are a strange novelty associated with attending school in manhattan. without thinking too much, i somehow interpreted this as a good luck sign and proceeded to the subway station with an added air of confidence as i approached my second day of law school. all in all, i've actually had a great first two days of school. i love the school and have been quite impressed with the faculty as well. this week is a mandatory orientation week called Advance Week which is comprised of random activities like taking pictures for ID cards, hearing long and boring speeches regarding our future careers and the legal profession, a library tour, etc. the week is also interspursed with actual classes before our normal full time schedule begins next week. since law school is taught by the socratic method, meaning teachers don't lecture, but basically guide student discussion...it seems to make the actual classroom time more interesting, since it's often times filled with debate. it's a daunting task to even try to attempt to record all the things i've learned or my more signficant observations of the last two days, but hopefully i've managed to carve a general idea of what it's been like. i'll write more later...peace
